Moon Drop Yoga: A Pause, A Reflection, and A Call to Community

There’s no easy way to write this, so I’m writing it with honesty and love.
Moon Drop Yoga might need to close its doors.
Almost five years ago, I opened Moon Drop Yoga with a vision. I believed we could create a safe and welcoming space — one where practitioners and teachers could offer healing, growth, and connection to those who needed it in our community. I imagined a studio that felt grounding and inclusive. A place where people could exhale. A place where you could show up exactly as you are.
And somehow… we did that.
Moon Drop has never just been walls, a schedule, or a business model. It has been a gathering place. A deep breath in the middle of busy lives. A room filled with courage, healing, laughter, growth, and connection.
We have witnessed friendships form. Confidence grow. Grief soften. Strength emerge. We have watched teachers pour their hearts into this space. We have watched students show up for themselves and for each other in ways that go far beyond yoga poses.
To every teacher who has shared their gifts so generously - thank you.
To every student who has walked through our doors - whether once or hundreds of times - thank you.
To every person who believed in this vision - thank you.
Being trusted with your time, your stories, and your practice has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
Where We Are Now
Like many small businesses, Moon Drop is facing significant financial challenges. We have navigated changing seasons, rising costs, evolving habits, and the realities of operating a physical wellness space.
We have been carefully reflecting on what is sustainable for the future.
And here is the truth:
We are not closing today.
But we are at a crossroads.
Before making any final decisions, we are opening a window of time to explore whether, together, we can create a sustainable path forward.
Moon Drop has always been about community. So instead of quietly deciding its future alone, we want to invite you into the conversation.
What We’re Exploring
We are actively cutting expenses, restructuring where possible, and reassessing our offerings. At the same time, we are looking at new possibilities rooted in collaboration, creativity, and shared support.
Here are a few ways the community can help:
1. Membership Support
If you are a long-time member and in a position to voluntarily increase your membership by $50–$100 per month, it would meaningfully shift our sustainability.
If you practice through drop-ins or ClassPass, consider transitioning to a direct monthly membership. Recurring memberships provide the consistent revenue small studios need to survive.
(We will also be discontinuing ClassPass soon, as that model is not sustainable for our teachers or studio.)
2. Donor Opportunities
For those who feel called to contribute at a higher level, donor options are available. Donors will receive:
Recognition in our lobby
Invitation to a donor appreciation event
3. Sun Room Rental or Share
We are seeking a renter (or renters) for our beautiful Sun Room space. It could be a home for:
Acupuncturists
Massage therapists
Wellness practitioners
Creative professionals
Or a shared rental collective
If you know someone who might be interested — please connect us.
4. Creative & Professional Contributions
Sustainability doesn’t only come in the form of dollars.
If you have skills in:
Marketing
Social media
Grant writing
Community partnerships
Event planning
Sponsorship outreach
Design
Corporate wellness connections
Fundraising strategy
Or if you simply have a creative idea we haven’t thought of — we are open.
Moon Drop has always been built by people who care. If you want to contribute time, strategy, ideas, or collaboration, we welcome that.
A Personal Reflection
Opening Moon Drop was never about opening a business just to run a business.
It was about creating a space that felt safe.
Welcoming.
Grounded.
Healing.
A place where teachers could teach in alignment.
Where students could land softly.
Where community felt real.
The past five years have stretched me, humbled me, and filled me with gratitude. Even in uncertainty, I feel incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.
If Moon Drop continues, it will be because a community chose to hold it together.
If it evolves, it will be because we listened carefully and acted with integrity.
Either way, I want the next step to be intentional.
What Happens Next
We will take the next couple of weeks to gather feedback, explore options, and assess what is truly possible. We will communicate transparently as decisions unfold.
If Moon Drop has meant something to you — this is the moment to speak up, lean in, or share an idea.
This space has always belonged to the people inside it.
With deep gratitude and hope,
Stacy, Kelsey, and the Moon Drop Yoga Team
